Granting citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland

Granting citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland is a special act. Head of State is not constrained by any conditions that should be met by a foreigner. It is solely his sovereign decision to whom and under what conditions he will grant a Polish passport. The President can grant Polish citizenship even to a person who only arrived to our country yesterday! This is, of course, an extreme example, because this is not usually the case. Citizenship of the Republic of Poland is the culmination of a certain process of integration of a foreigner with polish society.

Recognition as a Polish citizen

Recognition as a Polish citizen is carried by through the voivode and theoretically is simple, and in law it necessitates meeting one of the seven requirements. Once these administrative requirements are met, the granting of Polish citizenship should be a mere formality. Is it always the case? Unfortunately, we know from practice that it is not. That is why we are here to support you.

Restoration of Polish citizenship

Anyone who had Polish citizenship in the past and lost it before January 1, 1999 may apply for its restoration. Confirmation of possession or loss of Polish citizenship may be sought by anyone who has or had Polish citizenship and by an organization that has a legal interest in it. A complete application with all the necessary attachments should be submitted to the voivode or the consulate right for the place of residence. Filling out the application and collecting all the necessary documents to confirm that you have or have lost Polish citizenship can be a challenge, so we are here to help you.
